Long Audio Blog

Wednesday, August 24, 2005

Well I'm currently blogging about my room today which I cleaned and then took picture of. That way I can remember what it's supposed to look like. So this blog is basically pictures of my room with a commentary. But first I was browsing the net and found this movie. Now I should warn you that it makes no sense and is from probably the 70's. All I have to say is what was Spock (Leonard Nimoy) thinking.
Words Can't Explain It

Now on to the Room.

The Bookshelf, Can you spot the scotch, or the ski wax?

DISCO BALL

My Nalgene Family

Wall decorations

The other corner of the room

THE Desk. This is where most of the time I do my work on computer or paper. If you are every chatting with me online, this is probably the place I'm sitting.

Now this next one was because while i was typing this Take California, the song was playing and was featured in an Apple advertisement for the iPod. Here's the link
Cool Add

Well also my iPod was replaced today. It's number 4 now, and we see if it last's more than 4 months.

iPod Got Shipped

Well today I got a E-mail saying that a new iPod is on it's way towards me. Can't wait as i use that thing for every use you can think of. It's more than just a music player as it has my music, calender, and my Contacts.

Ohh Scott, I thought you might like this.

And yes apple stuff breaks but for the most part they are very willing to fix stuff if it's under warrenty. That doesn't mean the work that's done locally is any good. I think Dirk's computer speaks for it's self.

I've been roller skiing and blading again, so here's a picture to tribute that.

Folkfest 2005

OHh Man so much to talk about. Well, I Passed, I repeat I passed Math so horray for that as I'm now batting .400 at university math classes. With that behind me I can't wait to start 223 (please read the sarcasm in that last sentence). Actually 223 should be pretty good as I have the guy who just taught me 116 is teaching me 223. Thank you Charles, You are a great prof.

Also in the news is that my sister Alison is buying a house. It's over by St. Joes and close to Russ and also somewhat close to the scuz, a long walk maybe. But great place to crash after a long night there and no money for cab home.

Well I was supposed to work Saturday but it got cancelled so instead I was able to go out Folkfesting (pictures are later on in the post). It was a great night of Guinness drinking and other delicacies. Only bad part was running into a kid that i Counseled at camp and I couldn't remember her name. She ended up drawing a picture of a duck on my hand, and it's still there. (you gotta be careful about making sure you wash stuff off as Leah drew swastikas' and they didn't wash off!).

Ohh the Guiness

On the computer front I got my Powerbook fixed and it looks nice and shiny again. On the other front my iPod died AGAIN. So that means i've gone through 3 ipod in 12 months to the day even. I sent my 3rd one back on the 17th, which was the day I got it last year. Ohh well that's why you get the extended warranty. And if I'm lucky they'll keep breaking and eventually they'll run out of the old ones and have to send me one with a colour screen. Well here's to hopeing.

Ohh man I just about forgot about the deck. After I finished my class I took to the task of fixing my deck. After about 2 days of work it's all back together and in much better shape. Nathan Sedgewick is now back so he helped too and he's now an Uncle so this is getting wierd. My sister is buying a house, and my good friend is now an uncle, everybody's getting old.

Well that's all.
Peace Out!

Long

Well here's the longer one I was talking about. Now here's the bad part, the last part will be quite geeky and mac related. Well 3 days of math to go and there is still stuff to learn. I think I spent 2 hours on 6 questions today, but it did take a long time but it wasn't necessarily hard just takes a long time.

Well on a work front I may be stretching my legs by DJing at "Hell Dance" so that might be really cool. And starting this weekend I'm once again being a cool Wedding DJ! Ok so it's not that glamourous but I can if the crowd is really drunk call my self "MC Delta T" (science 10 anyone?).

Ohh almost forgot that my sister, the eldest one of the clan Kathryn, has returned to us in Saskatoon after being in europe for umm well since about april. So now I'm going to have to relinquish her car back to her which i've been driving. But with the current jump in prices of 10% i'm trying to drive as little as possible. And considering I had to just pay 80$ to get some work done on my bike I might as well ride it everywhere.

Also on tap is that I'm going to be rebuilding a section of my deck soon. If any of you want to help me give me a shout (I'm looking in your direction Dirk, that was a really nice looking fence). I'll have the pics up to document the process too. It should only take a day or two and it also means I get to go and visit the J&H man Rob to buy some more Lumber. I think that would make this the 4th time i'll be there looking for his help. Let me see, Fence then Painting Car Hole (Garage) then fixing the other part of the deck and now this. We've done enough work that my dad finally bought a POWER TOOL. I don't count the glue gun.

Well It also occurs to me that I haven't said anything about the bizarre hitch hiker that jack picked up on circle drive. When asked where he wanted to go he replyed 'anywhere's fine' that then changed to 'The Bigger Highway" then to "Miller Ave." We ended up dropping him off at the Tim Hortons on Warmen Rd. He was so out of it and did smell funny. At one point he may of mentioned he was from Glidden. That's about a 2 hour drive from Saskatoon.

So the other day I was listening to the MacCast podcast and there was quite an interesting feature on system maintenance. Found out some really cool sutff that OS 10 has always been set up to clear out your catch and stuff like that at 3 to 5:15 am every day. But for those of you who want to try this the terminal command is "sudo sh /etc/daily". So that's been cool finding that out and also i learned that history is also a terminal command. I'm learning this Unix stuff although it's going really slowly. And yesterday there was a secuirty update

Now this may not be new with 10.4 but now with your background desktop picture, you can have it change every 5 seconds, minute, 5 min ect. So, i've now changed my background from being the typical pictures to a new Calvin & Hobbes comic that comes up every minute. So now i've just got to get some more of them. You can find them at http://www.ucomics.com/calvinandhobbes/

I'll be without my Powerbook for a few days as the screen housing is getting fixed from when they replaced the screen back in january. So i'm going to be without my lappy for a few days but meh. I'm doing so much math i won't notice.

Invited?????

So like 10 min ago. I got a message from Scott Borys about bowling. And apparently it's bizzare for me to be invited anywhere? Why is that? I'm a hoopy frood who knows where his towel is, what's the big deal?

I just had to get that off my chest.

Scott

David to Five Alive.

Well I've been busy going through some photographs of mine and man some of them are really crazy. So here are a few from my old, and I mean old past.

Yes that is the one and only David Fong from 2000. Now I'm not sure if that's supposed to be a funny face or he actually does fly off.

Well Nathan is back from his Tree planing so I might as well put a picture of him up on the page.

Well This next one may require some explaining. In grade 11 I drank on average 1.5 Five Alive's a day (Deli Cinq for you frenchies). After drinking them I stacked them in my locker. Well it provided a nice shelf for a while but by april my locker was Full. I took this in the end of June before I emptied it out. Going into Sarcan with 224 uncrushed cans was fun. But they did look at me funny.

Well this is probably the first year of my life I won't get out to the mountains to hike. I'm a little bummed about it but I will get out to visit Shawn at some point so I'll have to get up to some hiking there.

OK please notice the "Long underware under shorts" look both my sister and my dad have going on in the picture. It's a camping classic!

Well I've got math studying all weekend as I totally forgot Simpson's Rule today. Give me a ring up or email any time eh?!

Grapher

Now this is something I didn't know about my computer till about last week. With the upgrade to OS X 10.4 there is a new graphing calculator included. Not only that it rocks! I've used it a few days in class at it's been awesome and I keep finding out new features all the time. It's really great for the integration of stuff and just being able to actually visualize the graphs. So for those of you with 10.4 Tiger check it out. It's in your applications/utilities folder.

Mike's Brithday!!

Well Yesterday was Mike Spencer's Birthday. So we went out, and did we go out. We started the night at earls, but the word on the street is that a few of them had some tequila before they left. We proceeded to order drinks and food and had a good all ages chat. I'm not sure about anybody else but I had a rum and coke, then a scotch neat.

-Side trip, When Will decided to come up with names of drinks I really hope he was thinking much more exotic than the bartender. I order the non existent drink Rum, Lola Rum. And the best he came up with was Rum and coke.

So earls was great and saw Teegan and Meghan who I hadn't seen either in a while. And also everybody else rocked.

Now to the Pat. I hope to account for everybody I remember seeing but I may forget as there were so many people I was talking with.

So we got there and started hanging out. I started a GW Lager and everybody had a drink and proceeded to see Melissa's Sister. She was out dancing and such. So we at some point started dancing and I went to the Bar and ran into Carmen from school. So that was sweet as i hadn't seen her all summer. Back to dancing and everything is posh. Later I go to the bathroom again, I think i went like 17 times. Ran into Sonia as it was her brother's birthday. So I think i had a chat with her and such. I've probably had a GW Pilsner and another Lager in this time period.

Now for the rest of the night was all over the place from being with mike, and erika and leah, to sonia and carmen, and eventually Kelsey, Whitney, and Lindsey.

Now I know this is creepy but I like this picture.

So here is the best account of people i saw.

-Mike Spencer
-Leah Solheim
-Erika Berntson
-Melissa's Sister
-Carmen Pauls
-Sonia Periard
-Greg Mason
-Ian McGillivray (Sandy's brother) We had like a 5 min talk and hadn't talked in 5 years
-Tim Landeryou (James' brother)
-One of the guys who sits behind me in Math 116 now. (I will learn his name)
-Carol Fong (who got mad at me for being at the bar in the first place, she doesn't like getting old I think)
-Kristal Harder
-Lindsay Gordon
-Kelsey Tallon
-Whitney Lemke
-Jack Mason (who game me a ride home, Thanks Jack!)
-Ryan Rooke (went to elementary together)

I think that's it and it's not that I saw all of them I at some point had a conversation or hung out with them. So yeah it was a great night & the best part is that I was way under my drink budget for the night!

More blogs to come. and more frequent ones also.

Hope you all enjoyed the pics too. Also noted that my computer's spell checker has no entry for Pilsner, what's up with that?

Quickie

Well this is going to be a quickie blog as I just got a call about Mike and his birthday. So yeah I know it's all been a while. I've been busy with math once again so I haven't had much time.

Well for new things I'm super excited about Schroder, that's Erika's new iBook. She's got mail working but the audio chat in iChat i think creeped her out with the line "My Computer is Talking To Me". Well I don't have any time left now but I'll leave you with some pictures.
